Class information
Yoga is about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. The poses can be done quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement or more slowly to increase stamina and perfect the alignment of the pose. The poses are a constant, but the approach to them varies depending on the tradition in which the teacher has trained. Builds strength, improves flexibility and calms the mind.
Pregnancy Yoga classes focus upon opening and grounding the body, as well as increasing the bond between you and your baby. They are a slower pace yoga class embracing the feminine energy.
Pilates is a series of exercises designed to promote
good movement patterns. They harness body, mind
and breath to develop flexibility, stamina and
strength from within. In class we will work on the
mat, with the wall, flexi bands, with small pilates balls
and the larger stability balls. Courses include
individual screening, handouts and detailed
programmes supporting what we do in class.
Meditation is a gateway to awareness & silence, a
technique to still the mind sufficiently for spacious
awareness (mindfulness) to arise, this is the true
essence of being & there are as many forms of
meditation as there are different mind sets to still.
We explore a few of them. Meditation will deepen
through practice. We'll explore the use of breath to
quieten the mind and ways of promoting inner
(subtle) body awareness. Sessions are in four or five
week modules with a break in between.
Qi Qong translates as breath work and is a relative
to China's Tai Chi. These oriental arts are revered for
their health giving properties amongst which are
improved joint mobility energy and relaxation.
Classes are ideal for people of all ages and all
levels.
Shiatsu based Yoga focuses on awareness of the
Meridians whilst following a fairly undemanding
yoga routine. There is challenge but the clear
intention is on personal exploration.
